Say goodbye to harsh beeping pagers and jarring radio transmissions and hello to a system that uses integrated LED lighting, ramped alarm volume, and text-to-speech dispatching.

This innovative bedside alert system is designed to improve the experience of waking up quickly, with care and consideration for the First Responder and their family.

Changing Emergency Response at Home

US Digital Designs by Honeywell came to TEAMS Design to create a new product that could revolutionize how First Responders are woken up during critical moments.

When going to bed, on call First Responders normally place a beeper or handheld radio on their bedside table to wake them up when a dispatch call comes in. These devices were designed to cut through the noise of a busy daytime work environment to catch attention, and aren’t designed for use during sleep.

This smart IoT powered device has customizable dispatch alerts sorted by unit, incident type, and location, all configured through the US Digital Designs mobile app. Alerts are delivered securely and instantly from the dispatch center to the device via Wi-Fi, thanks to a secure cloud service.

What Stands Out

Wrap-around LED illumination : Engineered to be visible from both the top and side, this feature ensures the light is easily seen directly on the product while you're lying in bed or indirectly as Flex Alert gradually illuminates the entire room and ceiling.

Ergonomically designed buttons : The three recessed buttons with oversized recessed icons are intuitively placed on top, like an alarm clock, for easy operation in the dark. Button identification is easy, with the buttons strategic placement in a lowered central frame to prevent accidental presses.

High fidelity sound : A sealed audio chamber and bottom firing speaker are optimized for resonances that make the synthesized text to speech dispatch come through clearly at low volumes, giving the First Responder a calm head start as they wake to respond to an emergency.

Built in battery backup : Even when the power goes out, First Responders can rely on Flex Alert to help them stay ready to respond. A built in battery backup keeps the device powered and ready during power interruptions.

The goal? To replace the traditional, often disruptive pagers or handheld radios with a more seamless solution that integrates into the home environment. This bedside alert system ensures First Responders are woken up in a way that’s less disruptive to both them and their sleeping partners, with features like gradually increasing alarm volumes and calming light effects.

With TEAMS Design’s help, US Digital Designs by Honeywell are revolutionizing how First Responders are woken up during critical moments. A humane solution that keeps First Responders alert, well informed, and well-rested. It’s not just about waking First Responders up – it’s about doing it thoughtfully.
