Our designers get very excited about our social responsibility projects, helping us bring positive change to developing countries. This passion was certainly behind some recent work that got selected as a finalist in the ‘See Change Challenge’ from eyewear giant Essilor.
Designing for Global Impact
Poor vision is frustrating, scary and even dangerous. And while there are currently many ways to correctly diagnose patients, for those in developing countries who need it most there is still no easy solution. See Change is a global initiative to improve access to vision screening and awareness around healthy vision to developing countries - a staggering 2.5 billion people do not have access to vision correction.
The TEAMS concept – still under wraps, was selected for its innovative approach to the problem – one that derived from tackling the problem from a human-centric perspective.
An important part of the solution was also its innovative approach to the business model behind the innovation – one that is built upon existing cultural dynamics of the developing countries we targeted. This is simply the TEAMS approach to our work: an innovative vision based on UX research, backed by a real-world strategy.
Over the next couple of months our teams are focused on getting the concept even more refined, with some in-situ user testing and detailed improvements to make this a solution that really makes a life-altering difference for people that need it most. We're excited to be recognized for our work and bringing the project to realization.
