Creating the Siemens Visual Brand Language
We developed a new Visual Brand Language for the Siemens climate control
systems, which inspired a complete catalog of products and further brand
styling redefinition in other market segments.
The new brand language for Siemens aims to communicate
a high-end feel and sophisticated interaction at the simplest and most user-friendly
level. The styling of this controller echoes this aesthetic of clean, modern
but friendly technology.
Our work for Siemens included redefining the graphics
for interactive displays, where we created a graphic language that is applied
to both the physical and the virtual buttons, to provide a holistic user interaction.
This room control unit is in a modular format, allowing
alternate combinations of push buttons, according to its required functions.
This set of buttons adjust the temperature, allow sophisticated time/temp
programming, switch lights on or off, and raise/lower the blinds.
This is a domestic climate control unit demonstrating
easy interaction through international icons and a simply read layout.
ID magazine awarded this product, commenting it "..presents itself as
understandable and usable, especially for a hotel guest encountering it for
the first time
We have also worked with a range of Siemens computer
equipment, creating the same friendly and sophisticated look & feel through
professional equipment.
We have often created simulations to test user interaction
with our devices, and have simplified the programming procedure tenfold by
discovering early on the optimum pattern of users' intuitive interaction.
Alternative layouts can often lead to a beneficial interaction.
This unit provides the user with a high level of data but uses subtle elements
of positional memory and format hierarchies to divide and simplify the information.
Our work for Siemens extends into designing packaging
and sales brochures, to convey the same look and feel as the products.
