This stapler was a classic design and became an icon
in Europe for staplers through the late eighties and nineties.
Its bold curvature and otherwise clear-cut geometric look gave it a powerful
image that stood out from all the competitors of the time.
We also came up with the very first standing stapler
in the mid nineties.
The idea came from our own user observation where one person was using a self-made
stand to hold a stapler upright so that it was easier to grab.
The success of the upright stapler lead to an expansion
of the line to a series of upright desk peripherals, such as this tape and
label dispenser.
Leitz is known for its practical storage and filing
solutions.
These quick filing trays clip together at an angle to sit on a desk, or clip
together inline for hanging on a wall.
The range of magazine trays on the market is huge.
The key to the success of these is their visual appeal, but they also win
in terms of functionality -sliding the paper in is easier than competitors,
and the amount of plastic is kept to a minimum to reduce cost, but the product
is nevertheless very strong.
This laminator is a new addition to the Leitz collection.
Its design is give a fun image to an otherwise utilitarian looking product,
while still maintaining a serious quality office look.
Desk organization is very important in an office. But
just as important is presentation. These stackable desk trays can hold paper,
paper clips, pens, or whatever happens clutter the working desktop. They can
be stacked or placed side by side.
The odd-bits tray (left middle) includes a magnet under the surface to hold
paper clips..
Despite very cost-efficient manufacture -simple aluminum extrusions and small
plastic end caps- the set has a very valuable and unique look.
This innovative swivel clip attached to the folder can
fasten up to 30 pages with a simple twist of the hand. The semicircular cutout
in the cover means the folder can be opened fully flat, so can be left open
on a desktop without flicking closed, and makes it easy to flick through the
pages.
The paper sits within a flap connected to the back cover, which allows the
swivel-clip to be rotated over the paper without catching the edges of the
pages like traditional paper binding strips. The Leitz color clip uses innovative
solutions to create a practical and attractive product.
