the 'head'; no pulling
Following the success of the European best-selling 'Columbus'
thermos jug, we designed an heir to the title.
The original 'Columbus' jug featured the first "press and pour"
mechanism for thermos jugs, which has almost become standard for this product
group worldwide. The egg/hen shape appealed to a wide market in Europe making
it the best selling thermos jug for a number of years.
Clearly based on it's predecessor's format, this update uses contemporary
European detailing to bring give the jug a further ten years of success.
Leifheit have specialist knowledge in many different
materials which liberates the design and manufacture process for new ideas.
This salad bowl uses an elastic material to seal itself air tight, while the
frost-free transparent window on the top also acts as a release mechanism
to reopen the container.
We developed a number of ironing boards for Leifheit,
and were then set the challenge to improve the classic format into an innovative
solution. The iron stand is moveable to anywhere on the board which frees
both ends of the board for alternate uses: the squared end has a better form
for shirts and skirts.
The legs bow away from user on one side, as we found that many people sit
when ironing large amounts -we also designed a chair to suit.
Insulated thermos jugs are typically very difficult
to clean due the many cavities in the closure. For this professional-use coffee
jug, we designed the lid and its mechanism to lift off by lifting up the handle,
leaving a clean metal jug that can be cleaned at high heat, while the other
parts will clean in the dishwasher.
We utilize our full ergonomic knowledge with Leifheit
tools. Research, modeling and testing leads to optimal handles for different
applications -one size really doesn't fit all!
We have a long history with leifheit and understand
their market very well. We have become an integral part of their new product
development and ideation process and we are able to continuously stay ahead
of the curve with trends and new applications.
