The strengthening of a brand through its products is
fundamental to the survival of a company in the new marketplace. Industrial
design can be the key to cost-efficiently boost the sales power of any product,
and thus should be used with regard to the entire brand.
Companies offering a cohesively designed product line have the ability to
become a major presence in their market, an effect that has long-term rewards.
TEAMS Design has gained an excellent and unique reputation
in the creation and development of product brands, demonstrated by the work
for Bosch, Kärcher, Leifheit, Mansfield, Still, Siemens, Silit, and Wolfcraft.
For each of these clients we have created a visual identity and applied it
to a large range of products. In most cases, these product identities have
accompanied the brands from initial launch into becoming world leaders.
We have received a lot of recognition for this work,
but most significant was the 'Design of the Decade Award' by Business Week
which was assigned for the design projects we realized for Kärcher from
1990 to 2000, on over 120 products.
"The Kärcher story has been one of consistency, distinct personality
and clarity for nearly 10 years. The name is synonymous with the product,
proving the successful effect of a long-term design strategy." -Dr. Stefano
Marzano of Philips.
The US business program World Business Review featured
our Chicago office in a segment focussing on Brand-wide product development.
TEAMS Design was selected to appear on World Business Review due to
its experience and ability to keep US manufacturers at the forefront of their
industries, said Bruce Gaster, the shows Senior Coordinating Producer.
We are currently working with a number of clients to
realign their current product lines to a visually coherent Brand statement.
In such cases, a Visual Brand Language (VBL) document is created, which acts
as a guideline for future product designs.
Then as each newly branded product is created, the VBL is updated to include
any additional solutions that may have been used, creating precedents for
the next products to quote from, thus allowing for the inclusion of Zeitgeist
or contemporary visual trends.
