On Friday the 13th of April, the design community proved that they're not a superstitious bunch. Over 350 design students, practitioners, and educators from across the Midwest made their way to TEAMS Chicago for Designers After Dark following the opening day of the IDSA Midwest Design Dialogue Conference.

Wired Magazine, one of the publishing world's foremost authorities on tech news, recently put a variety of leading headphones to the test, ranking the products on style and sound quality. In their review of over-the-ear headphones, the House of Marley's Trenchtown Rock Headphones ranked an impressive 7 out of 10.

Update: The Design Research Methods Workshop I and Workshop II will be returning to TEAMS Chicago on May 20, 2012. Due to the workshop's continued popularity, it's scheduled to return to Chicago every three months. You can register now for any of the dates in this ongoing series.

TEAMS Chicago will once again welcome Rob Curedale of the LinkedIn Design Research Group as he teaches a course on the important role of research in design. The two half-day workshops combine into a full-day course that will teach designers, architects, and business executives the fundamentals of an evidence-based approach to design. 

After scouring more than 2000 exhibitors at the 2012 International Home and Housewares Show, Good Housekeeping has selected an elite ten products that stood out as this year's must-haves. Chicago Cultery's soon-to-launch Design Pro Knives top the list.

After a long day of exploring creative fusion at the 2012 IDSA Midwest Design Dialogue Conference, designers are invited to kick back and relax with TEAMS Chicago.

On Friday, April 13, cast aside your friggatriskaidekaphobia and join us at our West Town studio for drinks, conversation, and a great view of the famous Chicago skyline. Purdue University's graduating class will exhibit their senior industrial design projects, and past party favorites like The Cool Wall will return by popular demand.

At the 2012 International Housewares Show, a highlight of the Innovation Theater presentations was the IDSA Housewares Section’s panel discussion: The Real Story Behind the Buying Power of Women: What Women as Designers Discovered. Organized by IDSA’s Housewares Section Chair Marianne Grisdale and moderated by RedFusion Studios Director of Research & Design Alice Jandrisits, the panel consisted of a diverse, experienced group of participants:

Early last Sunday morning, 25+ designers, engineers, and marketing managers gathered at TEAMS Chicago to participate in Rob Curedale's encore workshop: Design Research Methods I & II. After the original workshop in November sold out in record time, Curedale, an internationally known educator, was kind enough to return for a second round of research-focused presentations and exercises.

Last Friday, Chicago’s design and automotive communities braved the murky winter weather to gather at TEAMS Design. About 200 Chicago Auto Show attendees, designers, IDSA members, and other guests came out for post-Auto Show festivities at the West Town industrial design studio.

With a range of activities, guests had great opportunities to do more than just meet and mingle.

Meet and mingle with IDSA members and automotive design enthusiasts from across the country at this event co-sponsored by IDSA.

The annual Detroit Auto Show presents a great chance to be inspired by the scope of design and investment put into the development of concept vehicles. They range from vans to convertibles and from stunning to "what were they thinking?"

The less memorable designs are quickly forgotten by the press, the public, and even the manufacturers, but concept vehicles are a great platform for the "what if" question: what if this could be in your driveway in ten years?
