Update: The Design Research Methods Workshop I and Workshop II will be returning to TEAMS Chicago on May 20, 2012. Due to the workshop's continued popularity, it's scheduled to return to Chicago every three months. You can register now for any of the dates in this ongoing series. Originally posted February 16, 2012: TEAMS Chicago will once again welcome Rob Curedale of the LinkedIn Design Research Group as he teaches a course on the important role of research in design. The two half-day workshops combine into a full-day course that will teach designers, architects, and business executives the fundamentals of an evidence-based approach to design. |

Early last Sunday morning, 25+ designers, engineers, and marketing managers gathered at TEAMS Chicago to participate in Rob Curedale's encore workshop: Design Research Methods I & II. After the original workshop in November sold out in record time, Curedale, an internationally known educator, was kind enough to return for a second round of research-focused presentations and exercises. |

Last Friday, Chicago’s design and automotive communities braved the murky winter weather to gather at TEAMS Design. About 200 Chicago Auto Show attendees, designers, IDSA members, and other guests came out for post-Auto Show festivities at the West Town industrial design studio.
With a range of activities, guests had great opportunities to do more than just meet and mingle. |

The annual Detroit Auto Show presents a great chance to be inspired by the scope of design and investment put into the development of concept vehicles. They range from vans to convertibles and from stunning to "what were they thinking?" The less memorable designs are quickly forgotten by the press, the public, and even the manufacturers, but concept vehicles are a great platform for the "what if" question: what if this could be in your driveway in ten years? |
